Purpose
The objective of the Leslie County Conservation District is to educate the public, especially the youth. We want everyone to know and understand the principles of conservation, while striving to improve land and water quality for the present and for future generations.
It is our goal to establish a plan that will promote programs for farmers and landowners, meet the needs of an expanding population, and maintain a sufficient amount of our natural resources for those yet to come.
- Land Use Planning - Promote Best Management Practice
- Encourage and promote no-till planting practices and the use of no-till equipment
- Request cost share funding for specific land use: encourage cost share programs to improve land and water quality
- Maintain good working relationships with U.K. Extension Service, FAS, RC&D, Fiscal Court and other agencies that impact and make land use choices
- Keep Government Representative informed of out work plan and objectives
- Endorse Division of Forestry tree seedling planting. Purchase seedlings to give to land owners.
